How long does an All-on-4 procedure take?

All-on-4 is an immediate dental restoration option for patients with total tooth loss on both jaws. The restoration is placed on 4 implants. A whole All-on-4 procedure from A to Z may take from 2 to 3 days as follows:

Day 1: Implant placement

Tooth extraction (if necessary) and thorough removal of any diseased tissue left are required so the jaw bone is in its best condition for implant placement. The surgery is usually carried out under full-body anesthesia or pre-anesthesia.

Then, the dentist will get the patient’s dental impression to make a permanent bridge.

Day 2: Try on

The patient may try their new teeth on after a few hours or a day after the first surgical procedure. During this visit, the dentist will make cosmetic and functional adjustments to the patient’s new set of teeth, making it right for their individual needs. By now, the patient also knows how their teeth will look like.

Estimated time: 30 - 60 minutes

Day 2 (or day 3): Completion

After trying on new teeth, the patient will return the following day to have their permanent bridge placed on the implants. During this visit, there is no need for anesthesia.
